Citizen Kane (dir. Welles, 1941)



The next film we will be looking at is Citizen Kane...what do you already know about this film?
We'll be looking at the mise-en-scene and discussing Kane's auteur presence in the film...He is a director with distinctive approach, setting him apart from standardized fare of Hollywood.

Sweet Sixteen discussion point...



There are many points throughout the narrative that show Liam looking out to sea...near the sea...How does this quote below fit in to Sweet Sixteen...

The sea, the elemental force living on its own terms, represents a freedom worth striving for by any means. Of course this is an illusion; the tides are controlled by the moon's unseen hand.
